Reconnoitering some potential dog-friendly heritage walks

Image
We have started re-visiting some of our favourite local dog walks which incorporate all sorts of varied artefacts of the slate heritage landscape. This is part of a project to help local path walkers to find out more about the heritage of our landscape, to appreciate its origins and understand its influence on culture and tradition. Soon, we will mark these up on a huge map of the area, and link them to some materials which will help people to walk and explore these routes independently. We also hope that will help to build confidence in simple map-reading, and help new walkers to make responsible use of access to the local countryside.

Funding for local heritage walks

Madog Walks Group is pleased to announce that their bid for funding from the LleCHI LleNI Community grant scheme has been successful. The project will create and publish a series of "heritage discovery" walks around the local area. The walks will be illustrated on a large map available for public display, supplemented by printed and digital leaflets for each walk. The locality is rich in artefacts which give testament to the fascinating industrial past and its effect on the landscape and communities.  There will eventually be opportunities with both Madog Walks Group and with a number of other local groups to take part in some short guided walks along these heritage discovery routes.

Every dog should wear a collar—it’s a simple but important part of daily life. Collars help keep dogs safe, make training easier, and offer a way to attach ID tags or leads.
